In a continued effort to combat illegal poaching activities, the North & Middle Andaman District Police have apprehended another foreign poacher within the jurisdiction of PS Kalighat. The operation, focused on the mangroves and creek area of Loha Tikrey, remains ongoing as authorities strive to eradicate poaching activities in the region.
The operation unfolded as the anti-poaching team, led by vigilant officers, conducted foot patrols in the targeted region. During evening hours, suspicious movements were detected at Pailoon Creek, prompting the team to approach cautiously. Upon realizing the presence of law enforcement, the poachers attempted to flee, but the officers swiftly pursued and successfully apprehended one individual.
The detained poacher has been transferred to PS Kalighat and subsequently handed over to PS CCS for further investigation. Meanwhile, the anti-poaching team continues its search for additional perpetrators in the area.
This successful operation was conducted under the vigilant supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D) N&MA, demonstrating the dedication of law enforcement in preserving the region’s natural resources.
Authorities urge the general public and fishermen to remain vigilant and report any sightings of foreign boats or individuals engaging in suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station or via phone at No.100, 112, or 03192-273344. Informants’ identities will be kept confidential, and they may be rewarded for their assistance in combatting illegal poaching activities.
