Forest Officials Seize Illegally Felled Timber and Tools in South Andaman

In a major crackdown on illegal timber operations, the Mobile Squad of the South Andaman Forest Division, led by Forester Mr. Uttam Kumar Mistry and a team of RPS Mazdoors, conducted a successful operation on November 6, 2025. Acting on credible information from reliable sources, the team detected three offenders in possession of illegally sawn timber measuring 0.1208 cubic meters, along with tools, an engine dinghy, and a halis dinghy.

The offenders and the seized materials were subsequently handed over to the Range Officer, Jirkatang, for further necessary action under the provisions of the Forest Laws.

The operation was carried out under the overall supervision of Mr. Hosea, Forest Ranger and Range Officer, Mobile Squad.

The Forest Department has urged the public to report any information related to illegal felling, transportation, or trade of forest and wildlife produce to the helpline number 03192-255228, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
