The Andaman & Nicobar Forest Department organised a felicitation ceremony on 21st November 2025 at Van Sadan, Haddo, to honour the Forest Sports Contingent that represented the Union Territory at the 28th All India Forest Sports Meet held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, from 12th to 16th November 2025. The contingent delivered an impressive performance at the national-level event, securing one Gold and two Silver medals, bringing pride to the Islands.
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), A&N Islands, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, presided over the event and congratulated the athletes for their dedication and achievements. He felicitated Mr. Emran Baksh, LGC, who clinched the Gold Medal in Squash (Men’s Open), and Ms. B. Chandra Kala, LGC, who bagged two Silver Medals in Chess (Rapid and Classic). The medalists received certificates and mementoes in commendation of their outstanding performance.
The PCCF also acknowledged the efforts of Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Forester, who secured the fourth position in Chess (Rapid and Classic), recognising it as a commendable achievement in a highly competitive field.
The event highlighted the department’s encouragement for sporting excellence and celebrated the athletes who brought laurels to the Islands on the national stage. (Story Based on PR)
