Former Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, led a delegation of pre-primary teachers, aayas, and part-time attendants from the Education Department in a crucial meeting with the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration yesterday. The agenda was to address the urgent issues impacting these essential educational workers.
In the discussion, Mr. Sharma underscored the severe challenges faced by the pre-primary teachers and attendants, who have dedicated nearly 15 years of service to the Education Department. Traditionally, their tenures have been renewed annually. However, this year, without any explanation, their tenure was not extended post-summer vacation, plunging them into financial distress.
“Many of these staff members are the primary breadwinners for their families,” stated Mr. Sharma. “The delay in extending their contracts has led to significant financial hardship, and it is imperative that this issue is resolved promptly.”
The Chief Secretary attentively listened to the concerns and assured Mr. Sharma and the delegation that he would look into the issue.
