In a move aimed at strengthening grassroots governance and enhancing public infrastructure, the foundation stone for the construction of a new Panchayat Bhavan at Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram was laid on Friday.
The project, to be executed under the RCD, APWD, Wimberly Gunj, has been sanctioned at a cost of ₹3.24 crore (Rupees Three Crore Twenty-Four Lakh). The new building is expected to significantly improve administrative functioning and public service delivery in the area.
The foundation stone was laid by Dr. Apurva Sharma (DANICS), Director, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), in the presence of P. Abdul Basheer, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram; Shamim Ahamed, Panchayat Samiti Member, Kanyapuram; and P. Mohammed Ali, PRI Member, Ward No. KP-01. Senior citizens, women, and children from Kanyapuram were also present on the occasion.
The upcoming Panchayat Bhavan will provide a dedicated space for administrative work, community meetings, and various developmental activities. Officials said the project reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening local self-governance and promoting rural development.
Speaking on the occasion, Panchayat representatives expressed gratitude to the administration for sanctioning the long-pending project and assured residents that the construction would be completed in a timely manner while maintaining quality standards.
Residents described the project as a significant achievement for Kanyapuram, stating that the new building would contribute to better governance and overall development of the Gram Panchayat.
