Foundation Stones Laid for Major MPLADS Works in Little Andaman Island

In a significant development for the Little Andaman community, foundation stones for four crucial MPLADS (Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme) projects were laid on December 2, 2023. These initiatives, sanctioned by the Member of Parliament representing Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, directly respond to the persistent demands raised by the people of Little Andaman.

The four major works slated for development are:

1. Construction of a Small Mini Stadium Gallery at Rabindranagar GP: This initiative aims to build a 100-seating capacity mini stadium gallery at the Rabindranagar playground in Little Andaman. Its primary objective is to cater to the sports and games activities of the island’s youth, providing them with a dedicated space for fostering athletic talent.

2. Construction of a Children’s Park at Ramkrishna Pur, Hut Bay: Enhancing the community infrastructure, this project involves the establishment of a children’s park at Ramkrishna Pur in Hut Bay, Little Andaman. The park is anticipated to be a recreational hub for children, offering a safe and enjoyable environment for play and leisure.

3. Purchase and Installation of Multi-Gym Equipment at Chidambaram Park, Hut Bay: This initiative focuses on promoting fitness and a healthy lifestyle among the residents of Hut Bay. The procurement and installation of multi-gym equipment at Chidambaram Park will encourage physical activities and exercise routines among locals.

4. Purchase and Installation of Multi-Gym Equipment at Panchayat Bhavan, Vivekananda Pur: Addressing the need for fitness amenities, this project aims to acquire and set up multi-gym equipment at the Panchayat Bhavan in Vivekananda Pur, Little Andaman. The objective is to facilitate physical activities specifically tailored for the island’s youth.

These endeavours reflect a concerted effort to address the demands and necessities voiced by the community, focusing on sports facilities, recreational spaces for children, and provisions for physical fitness activities. The projects are anticipated to significantly contribute to the holistic development and well-being of the residents of Little Andaman.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony signifies the commencement of these transformative initiatives, heralding a new phase of infrastructural development and community-centric growth in the region.
