The CID Unit (Crime & Economic Offences Wing) of the Andaman & Nicobar Police has arrested four persons in connection with an alleged honey trap and extortion network operating in Sri Vijaya Puram.

According to police sources, a criminal case was registered following a complaint from a victim who alleged that he was lured, drugged, wrongfully confined and coerced into transferring ₹50,000 through UPI transactions after being threatened with false criminal accusations.

As per the complaint, the victim came into contact with a woman through the ‘Quack Quack’ dating application. Subsequent conversations reportedly continued via WhatsApp. On February 7, 2026, he was allegedly invited to a house near Dhanikhari junction on the pretext of meeting for coffee.

The complainant stated that he was given a soft drink allegedly laced with an intoxicating substance, which rendered him unconscious. Upon regaining consciousness, he found himself partially undressed, with two women and a man present, allegedly recording photographs and videos. The accused allegedly threatened to implicate him in a false criminal case and create a public scene, and confined him until he transferred ₹50,000 via UPI.

Following a preliminary enquiry, police identified and arrested four accused persons: Vinitha Kumari (35), resident of Prothrapur; Manjit Kaur alias Manu (38), a private worker residing near Big Basket, Dhanikhari; Roshni Kumari alias Riya alias Aliana (28), resident of Garacharma; and Samrat Bairagi (38), resident of Dhanikhari.

Police stated that legal action has been initiated under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Further investigation is underway, including examination of digital evidence and analysis of the financial trail.

The Andaman & Nicobar Police have urged citizens to exercise caution while interacting with unknown persons on social media and online platforms. In case of suspicious activity or cyber-related offences, the public has been advised to report the matter to the nearest police station or through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.

Police have also appealed to anyone who may have been similarly targeted by honey trap or online extortion networks to contact the Crime & Economic Offences Wing for assistance.
