BSNL is the lone telecom service provider operating at Campbell Bay, Great Nicobar Island. The residents of Campbell Bay are facing a lot of issues because of frequent call drops and one-way calls from last month.
No one can make a proper call at Campbell Bay for many days now. The situation is very grave now and the residents are dependent on Internet-based calls for a proper conversation.
The residents are fed up with the bad service of BSNL in remote areas. The residents of other areas such as Port Blair, Car Nicobar etc. have the alternative of switching to other networks, but the residents of Campbell Bay have no other choice than to patiently wait for the services to improve.
BSNL always has some or the other problems with their mobile network at Campbell Bay all the time and the residents of Campbell Bay cannot recall a time when all the services of BSNL worked perfectly.
The calls drops and one-way calls are not limited to peak timings but people are experiencing it throughout the day even at late night and early morning hours when the call traffic on the network remains the lowest.
Submarine Cable was laid between Chennai and Andaman and Nicobar Islands to improve the telecom connectivity, but BSNL cannot even properly maintain its mobile networks to provide good quality voice call services to its consumers.
The pathetic condition of BSNL is causing a lot of inconvenience for the general public. Every month thousands of consumers of BSNL from Campbell Bay recharge their mobile phones and pay their postpaid bills for the services that they are unable to use properly.
BSNL may be a loss-making company in mainland India but it earns a good amount of profit from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
BSNL should buckle up and improve its services in remote Islands for the convenience of the general public. All consumers of BSNL should download the TRAI MyCALL app and report all call drops and one way calls so that TRAI can take appropriate action against BSNL.
