In a heartfelt plea to the Electricity Department, Abdul Sajid (Sajid Shan), Vice President of the NGO Dhairya has raised concerns about persistent power outages and non-functional streetlights, particularly in areas like Sri Vijaya Puram. Abdul Sajid addressed the issue in an official letter to the Executive Engineer, urging immediate action to resolve the recurring problem.
The letter highlights the severe impact of power interruptions on public safety and convenience, especially with streetlights becoming non-operational during outages. This prolonged darkness, according to the letter, fosters an environment conducive to crimes and unlawful activities, posing threats to the lives and property of residents.
Despite repeated grievances from the community, the issue remains unresolved, raising serious concerns about public safety and security. Sajid Shan emphasised the need for swift intervention, pointing out that addressing the problem would not only prevent potential mishaps but also restore public confidence in the efficiency of the department.
The letter appeals to the department to prioritise resolving the matter and reaffirms trust in its commitment to serving the community.
As the region awaits action, residents hope for a prompt resolution to ensure safety and improve the quality of life in South Andaman.
