A fresh landslide at Sippighat has once again dislocated two recently repaired gravity main water pipelines, severely disrupting water supply to several areas of Sri Vijaya Puram, including the Lamba Line and Garacharma Water Treatment Plants. The damage follows an earlier repair effort announced in a press release on May 26.
In addition to the two main lines, a third gravity main supplying water to Buniyadabad was also dislocated in the same landslide, further compounding the crisis. As a result, water supply has been affected in Buniyadabad, Police Line, All India Radio, Ranchi Basti Command Tank connected to Lamba Line Water Treatment Plant and Garacharma Command Tank connected to Garacharma Water Treatment Plant.
Officials confirmed that water supply to these areas remained suspended on May 27. Restoration work on all three gravity mains is currently in progress and was expected to be completed by early morning on May 28. However, the water supply to affected treatment plants and command tanks will be resumed in a phased manner over the next two to three days.
Authorities have urged the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council to take appropriate measures to assist the public during this period. Municipal water tankers will be deployed from Dollygunj and Nayagaon Water Treatment Plants, while Defence water tankers will operate from Jawahar Sarovar to mitigate the impact of the disruption.
Residents, as well as commercial and institutional establishments, are requested to use drinking water judiciously and cooperate with the administration during this period of inconvenience.
