The Freshwater Fish Seed Farm at Nayagaon, functioning under the Department of Fisheries, A&N Administration, has successfully produced a fresh stock of freshwater fish seeds of Indian Major Carps (IMC). These seeds are now ready for distribution among local fish farmers to support and promote inland fish farming across the islands.

The distribution will take place on 24th July 2025 across three Gram Panchayats in the South Andaman District—Wimberlygunj, Mannarghat, and Shoal Bay. The seeds will be distributed from the respective Gram Panchayat offices at scheduled times. In Wimberlygunj, distribution will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by Mannarghat at 10:00 AM, and Shoal Bay at 11:00 AM.

Interested fish farmers from these Panchayats are requested to collect the freshwater fish seeds from the designated distribution points. The fish seeds will be available on payment, with each oxygenated packet of fry-sized fish seeds priced at Rs. 135.

The Fisheries Department has urged eligible farmers to take advantage of this opportunity, which is aimed at strengthening local aquaculture and contributing to the economic growth of rural communities engaged in fish farming.
