The Administration of G B Pant Hospital has issued a statement addressing concerns regarding unsolicited food donations to patients admitted in the hospital. The hospital administration has observed that well-meaning individuals and prominent figures in the community have been offering sweets, fruits, and other food items to patients without notifying the hospital management.
In an effort to ensure the well-being and swift recovery of patients, the hospital administration has urged philanthropists and the general public to refrain from donating food articles to patients undergoing treatment. G B Pant Hospital serves as a vital referral facility for the entire Islands, accommodating patients with diverse health conditions that necessitate precise dietary monitoring.
Highlighting the significance of this matter, the hospital’s kitchen is supervised by a dedicated Dietician who tailors each patient’s diet according to their specific health requirements. Any additional food items, including sweets and fruits, not sanctioned by the medical team can potentially impede the recovery process or exacerbate the patients’ existing health conditions.
Acknowledging the commendable support from the public and philanthropic contributors, the G B Pant Hospital management emphasised the need to prioritise patient care and health considerations. While the hospital administration appreciates the benevolent intentions behind these donations, they underscore the critical importance of adhering to prescribed medical guidelines.
The hospital has strongly urged the general public to respect and follow the established regulations of the institution, ultimately contributing to the patients’ well-being. Individuals interested in making donations of any nature, including food articles, are encouraged to coordinate with the Office of the Medical Superintendent to ensure that the contributions align with the patients’ medical requirements.
