Ganja Seized by Swaraj Dweep Police, 01 Arrested

In a determined effort to maintain the pristine beauty and safety of Swaraj Dweep, the local police force has taken a significant step towards eradicating drug-related activities on the island. This move comes as part of an ongoing effort to uphold the integrity and security of the picturesque locale.

On March 9th, 2024, authorities received credible information regarding the possession of ganja by an individual. Acting swiftly, a raiding team was immediately constituted under the leadership of SHO PS Swaraj Dweep. The team executed a raid at Govind Nagar No. 01, resulting in the successful apprehension of one individual.

The arrested individual, identified as a guide at Elephanta Beach, was found in possession of 524 grams of ganja. He has been identified as a permanent resident of Karmatang, Mayabunder. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at PS Swaraj Dweep, and investigations are currently underway.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Vinay Mathur, DANIPS, SDPO Swaraj Dweep, and under the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
