Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, who arrived at Port Blair on 26th February 2023, visited National Memorial Cellular Jail the same evening. He also visited the Cell of Veer Savarkar, garlanded his portrait, and paid obeisance to the great patriot.
Later, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa also witnessed a programme organized to commemorate the death anniversary of Veer Savarkar, by ‘Shabdamrut’, an NGO from Maharashtra, in the premises of the National Memorial Cellular Jail.
Addressing the gathering on occasion, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa paid tributes to the great orator and thinker, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, popularly known as Veer Savarkar. He also recalled Veer Savarkar’s contributions in India’s freedom struggle.
Later, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa visited Veer Savarkar Park, opposite Cellular Jail, and garlanded the Statue of Veer Savarkar. He also witnessed the Light and Sound Show at Cellular Jail.
