Good Governance Week: Grievance Redressal Camps Bring Administration to Doorsteps in Various South Andaman Villages

As part of the nationwide Good Governance Week (Sushasan Saptah) campaign ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’, initiated by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, the District Administration, South Andaman is observing the campaign from December 19 to 25 by organising a series of public outreach programmes aimed at bringing governance closer to the people.

Under the ongoing campaign, grievance redressal camps have been organised at Gram Panchayat Wandoor, Chouldhari Community Hall and Sippighat Community Hall, enabling residents to raise public grievances and avail government services at their doorstep.

At Gram Panchayat Wandoor, the camp was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Kamaleshwar Rao S, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman, and was attended by the Pradhan, Sarpanch, Up-Pradhan and other PRI members. The camp witnessed active participation from the general public. The Assistant Commissioner patiently heard grievances and directed the concerned departments to resolve the issues on a priority basis. During the camp, OBC and income certificates were issued, and No Objection Certificates were provided to the Panchayat for various government works.

Similarly, a Camp Court was conducted at Chouldhari Community Hall under the chairmanship of Mr. Ashis Joon, Assistant Commissioner (Settlement), in the presence of Mrs. Pramila Kumari, Zilla Parishad Member, Chouldhari Constituency, Panchayat Samiti Members, the Pradhan of Chouldhari Gram Panchayat and other PRI representatives. The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents. During the camp, 12 certificates and documents, including income and OBC certificates, OR reports and mutation record entries, were issued to the general public.

Further, a Camp Court was also organised at Sippighat Community Hall, chaired by Mr. Thomas Varghese, Tehsildar, Sri Vijaya Puram, in the presence of the Up-Pradhan and other PRI members. A considerable number of residents attended the camp, during which five mutation orders were issued and one surrender order was processed.

The week-long campaign, being conducted under the aegis of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’ (Administration Towards Villages), emphasises transparency, accountability and responsive governance. The District Administration, South Andaman, has reiterated its commitment to addressing public grievances and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach every corner of the district.
