An unsettling case of misappropriation of government funds totalling Rs. 56,88,395 at the ANIDCO Wine Shop in Rangat has seen a significant breakthrough. On the fateful date of 25th October 2023, authorities at PS Rangat initiated legal proceedings, invoking relevant sections of the law against the alleged offenders. Two individuals were promptly arrested following thorough interrogation, promptly sent to judicial custody.
However, amidst the unfolding events, the prime accused, identified as G. Vinod Kumar, the Manager of ANIDCO Wine Shop, managed to evade authorities, prompting an intensive pursuit throughout the islands and mainland.
Despite the accused’s relentless pursuit of anticipatory bail in both the Sessions Court and High Court, the appeals were dismissed, attributed to the compelling case presented by law enforcement.
On the 23rd of November 2023, a decisive breakthrough emerged as the accused fell into the grasp of the North & Middle Andaman District Police while attempting to relocate his hideout. The subsequent apprehension placed the accused under police custody, intensifying ongoing interrogations to glean further insights into the intricate misappropriation of government funds.
The case’s Investigating Officer, SI Deva Raju, exhibited extraordinary dedication, burning the midnight oil to unravel the complexities. The relentless efforts and unwavering commitment demonstrated by the entire police team merit high commendation, promising suitable recognition for their diligence.
The entire investigation was conducted under the guidance of Inspector R.K. Mazumder, SHO PS Rangat, supervised under the guidance of SDPO Rangat, Mr. Chandra Prakash Meena, DANIPS, operated under the overarching supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District. Their collective guidance and leadership steered the investigative process toward this pivotal apprehension.
