Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose, the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, is on a four-day visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from 15th to 18th November 2024. On 16th November, he met with Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, at Raj Niwas. Lt. Governor briefed the Governor of West Bengal on key infrastructure and tourism projects spearheaded by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration under the Islands Development Agency.
The Hon’ble Lt. Governor provided an overview of several major initiatives, particularly in the fields of tourism and hospitality. He highlighted the commencement of international flights to Veer Savarkar International Airport on 16th November 2024 as a historic achievement for the islands, set to boost both regional and global connectivity.
Additionally, the Lt. Governor discussed the upcoming trials for sea-plane operations, scheduled to begin on 17th November. These developments, he emphasised, are expected to revolutionise the tourism and hospitality sectors of the A&N Islands, attracting more global attention and transforming the region’s profile as a premier tourist destination.
