Saturday and Sunday were full of fun for the residents of Great Nicobar as Govind Nagar Panchayat initiated a regular weekend event at Magar Nallah in Campbell Bay. Residents enjoyed the food and the music and appreciated the Panchayat for organising the event.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Nitin Shakya, Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay in the presence of Mr. Venkat Rao, Pradhan, Govind Nagar Panchayat.
The idea of the event was also coined by the Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay.
Self Help Groups had set up stalls serving delicious food and people sang their favourite songs on karaoke.
Mr. Venkat Rao, Pradhan, GP Govind Nagar informed Nicobar Times that the Panchayat would be organising similar events at Magar Nallah every weekend. He added that the event provides a venue for the entertainment of the residents and it also provides an opportunity for the members of Self Help Groups to earn handsomely.
The first weekend was very successful and a very large number of residents visited Magar Nallah to enjoy the food and music.
Mr. Prahlad Singh, Pradhan, GP Laxmi Nagar and Mrs. Rameshwari, Pradhan, GP Campbell Bay were also present during the inauguration of the regular weekend event.
