Gram Panchayat Laxmi Nagar in Great Nicobar has achieved the 2nd Position in the country under the category ‘Self Sufficient Infrastructure in Panchayat’. Ministry of Panchayati Raj conferred the award to Gram Panchayat Laxmi Nagar under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar.
GP Laxmi Nagar is the southernmost panchayat of the country. Mr. Prahlad Singh, Pradhan, GP Laxmi Nagar, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, BDO, Campbell Bay, and Mr. Mohammed Jabir, Panchayat Secretary, GP Laxmi Nagar were present at the ceremony held at New Delhi on 17th April 2023, to receive the award.
Mr. Prahlad Singh received the award from the hands of Mr. Giriraj Singh, Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
The award is a result of the cumulative effort of Panchayati Raj Members of previous tenures, present PRI Members, and officials.
The ceremony was also attended by other Panchayati Raj Members of Andaman and Nicobar Islands including Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman.
