The general public and all stakeholders have been informed that Gram Panchayats or local Panchayat authorities are not authorised to grant permissions, approvals or No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for operating water sports activities at New Wandoor Beach near the Fish Landing Jetty.
According to the clarification issued, activities such as Glass Bottom Boat operations, Parasailing and other allied water sports do not fall within the jurisdiction of Gram Panchayats. Permission for the operation of vessels and boats rests exclusively with the Port Management Board and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, in accordance with the prevailing rules, guidelines and safety regulations.
Boat owners and other concerned stakeholders have been advised to approach only the designated competent authorities for obtaining valid permissions before commencing or continuing any water sports operations. They have also been directed to strictly adhere to the prescribed norms, safety standards and applicable legal provisions to ensure public safety and regulatory compliance.
The clarification has been issued in the interest of public awareness to avoid confusion regarding authority and jurisdiction, and to ensure that water sports activities at New Wandoor Beach are conducted strictly in accordance with established regulations.
