In a bid to foster a cleaner and healthier environment, all Gram Panchayats under the Mayabunder Tehsil came together on May 11, 2024, to organize a sweeping cleanliness drive. The event witnessed an impressive turnout of approximately 250 participants, comprising esteemed dignitaries such as AC (HQ)/CEO (ZP, N&MA), the Block Development Officer of Mayabunder, Pradhans, PRI members, various officials, and enthusiastic members of the general public.
The collective effort aimed to address the accumulation of waste and garbage across diverse locations, including sea beaches, market areas, schools, Anganwadi Centres, and roadside areas. Officials of the Zilla Parishad N&MA, Mayabunder, also actively participated, extending the drive’s reach to the Zilla Parishad Office campus.
A remarkable feat was achieved as a staggering 510 kgs of waste were diligently collected, segregated, and subsequently transferred to the designated Solid Waste Management cluster under Mayabunder Tehsil. Among the participants was Mr. Ashish Joon, Chief Executive Officer (ZP, N&MA)/Assistant Commissioner (HQ) Mayabunder, who led the cleanliness drive at Baludera Sea Beach under Pokkadera Gram Panchayat.
Upon the successful completion of the drive, Mr. Ashish Joon addressed the gathering, emphasizing the paramount importance of cleanliness for both physical well-being and the sustenance of a healthy environment. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to all participants for their unwavering commitment and urged PRIs to undertake similar initiatives at regular intervals to ensure the pristine upkeep of the beaches.
The collective endeavour underscores a profound dedication towards environmental stewardship and serves as a testament to the community’s resolve in fostering a cleaner and greener tomorrow.
