The market at Great Nicobar has run out of onions, tomatoes, potatoes, eggs, tetra-pack milk, and many other ration items. The last ship which reached Great Nicobar with general cargo from Port Blair was more than 12 days ago.
DSS has not scheduled any sailing between Port Blair and Campbell Bay in the last 12 days because of which the residents are facing a lot of problems. Many residents of Great Nicobar had to cancel their onward flight tickets from Port Blair as they got stuck at Great Nicobar due to the non-availability of a ship.
Traders have not been able to import cargo on time, and because of which, the market at Great Nicobar has run out of many essential commodities and perishable items.
The residents of Great Nicobar and Political Leaders appreciated DSS for announcing the schedule for the entire month of April 2023 in advance. The publishing of the schedule in advance enabled the residents to plan their travel.
Not providing a single sailing between Port Blair and Campbell Bay in the last 12 days has angered the residents and the traders.
The residents and the traders have demanded immediate scheduling of a ship between Port Blair and Campbell Bay. The residents have also demanded that DSS should schedule a ship between Port Blair and Campbell Bay every week, without fail, for their convenience.
