Ograbraj Police Station cracked a significant burglary case and apprehended a habitual burglar. They successfully recovered stolen gold ornaments from the accused. This achievement comes in the wake of an incident reported on June 21, 2023, when a burglary occurred at a residence in Badmash Pahad, Chouldari, resulting in the loss of gold ornaments weighing approximately 35.5 grams.
Upon receipt of the complaint, the case was swiftly registered at PS Ograbraj, and the responsibility for its resolution was assigned to Head Constable Bijoy Sarkar (HC/2336). Sarkar initiated a meticulous investigation that led to the identification of a suspect who, as it turned out, had gone into hiding.
Efforts to trace the accused were relentless, with multiple teams formed to aid in the investigation. Through a combination of physical and technical analysis, the police were eventually able to track down and apprehend Sanjay Kumar Das, aged 38, and a resident of Little Andaman. Das had been hiding in Subash Gram, Diglipur.
The police team involved in the operation comprised of HC/2336 Bijoy Sarkar, the investigation officer, along with PC/1642 Rakesh Narayan, PC/1013 Biplob Das, PC/2190 Agassi Clinton, and PC/1029 M Mohammed Arif. The operation was conducted under the command of Sub-Inspector Devanand Pathak, the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Ograbraj, and under the overall supervision of Arshdeep Singh Panwar, SDPO Bamboo Flat.
In a joint operation with PS Diglipur, the accused was apprehended and subsequently brought to the Ograbraj Police Station for further investigation. During interrogation, the accused disclosed the location of the stolen gold ornaments, leading to their successful recovery. The estimated worth of the recovered gold ornaments is approximately ₹2,30,000.
The police are now conducting further investigations into the case, aiming to uncover any potential accomplices or additional information related to the burglary. This successful resolution of the case underscores the commitment of the Ograbraj Police in ensuring the safety and security of the community they serve.
