Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2024 Kicks Off in Andaman & Nicobar Islands

The third edition of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign has officially commenced in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The campaign, which began on August 9, 2024, will run until Independence Day on August 15, 2024, with the aim of fostering a deep sense of patriotism and unity among the local communities.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign encourages residents to bring the Indian National Flag, the Tiranga, into their homes and proudly hoist it in celebration of Independence Day 2024. This initiative is designed to raise awareness about the national flag and its significance, while also instilling a strong sense of national pride.

In the rural areas of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the campaign is being led by the Directorate of Rural Development (RD), Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) under the A&N Administration. The campaign was inaugurated on August 9, 2024, across various Gram Panchayats and tribal areas throughout the islands. In the Nicobar and North & Middle Andaman Districts, the campaign was launched with a Tiranga Yatra, led by district officials. The Deputy Commissioner’s participation in the Tiranga Yatra in Nicobar District sparked enthusiasm among the local populace, further galvanising support for the campaign.

The first day of the campaign was marked by a series of vibrant activities, including Tiranga Yatras, painting, and elocution competitions held in various Gram Panchayats across the South Andaman, North & Middle Andaman, and Nicobar Districts. Additionally, Tiranga canvas signing events took place at Panchayat Offices, Block Offices, schools, and community venues throughout the islands.

The week-long initiative, running from August 9 to August 15, 2024, is being closely monitored by local officials and PRI members to ensure the smooth execution of all activities. Their efforts are focused on fostering a spirit of unity and national pride among the islanders.

In support of the campaign’s objectives, approximately 30,000 national flags, provided by the Ministry of Culture, are being distributed to households across all Gram Panchayats and tribal villages in the islands. This distribution effort, managed by the Directorate of RD, PRIs, and ULBs, is intended to encourage every resident to actively participate in this patriotic observance.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign seeks to evoke a strong sense of nationalism and community solidarity. By engaging residents in various activities and ensuring the widespread visibility of the national flag, the campaign aims to reinforce the values of freedom and unity that are central to the spirit of Independence Day.
