Mr. Sunil Paliwal, Chairman of Chennai Port, officially handed over the charge of Andaman Lakshadweep Harbour Works (ALHW) to Mr. B. Kasiviswanathan, Chairperson of the Cochin Port Authority, during their recent visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Both Chairmen also called on Admiral D. K. Joshi (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, at Raj Niwas.

During their meeting, discussions centered on the swift completion of ongoing ALHW projects across the islands. A key focus was the rapid operationalisation of the water segment for upcoming seaplane operations at Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, and Long Island, which are expected to commence soon.

In addition, the dignitaries explored the modalities of the potential merger of ALHW into the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, a move that could streamline the management of maritime projects in the region and enhance operational efficiency.

The discussions marked a significant step towards boosting maritime infrastructure and connectivity in the A&N Islands, which are crucial for tourism and economic development in the region.
