The Health Department under the Directorate of Health Services has conducted a campaign aimed at reducing edible oil consumption by 10% to promote healthier lifestyles and minimize health risks associated with excessive oil intake.
As part of the initiative, Health Educator Mr. Yusuf conducted a health talk at the OPD Complex of G.B. Pant Hospital, emphasizing the significance of mindful oil consumption. The session educated attendees about the dangers of excessive oil intake, such as obesity and cardiovascular diseases, and offered practical tips to help reduce oil consumption.
The key suggestions included:
- Limit oil purchases: Buy oil in fixed, controlled quantities.
- Use a measuring spoon: Ensures portion control and prevents excess consumption.
- Rotate different oils: Provides a balanced intake of nutrients.
- Avoid reusing oil: Prevents the formation of harmful substances.
- Limit butter and ghee: Reduces the intake of saturated fats.
- Adopt a healthy diet: Promotes overall well-being and reduces dependence on oil-based foods.
The Health Department is encouraging the public to adopt these simple yet effective measures to meet the campaign’s 10% reduction target, which could significantly reduce the risk of lifestyle-related diseases and promote long-term health.
The initiative will continue through a series of awareness programs, community outreach activities, and expert-led health talks aimed at driving behavior change and fostering healthier eating habits.
