Health & Wellness Awareness Programme Empowers School Health Ambassadors in South Andaman

A one-day Health & Wellness Awareness Programme for School Health & Wellness Ambassadors (SHWA) was successfully organized on April 5, 2025, at the auditorium of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram. The event was held in collaboration with the NGO Guru Ki Rasoi and saw enthusiastic participation from 51 Health Ambassadors representing various schools across South Andaman and the Wimberlygunj zone.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Rajesh Kumar Pandey, Science Consultant, who also outlined the objective of the initiative — to equip SHWAs with essential knowledge to foster healthier school environments.

Sessions during the programme focused on critical areas such as mental health, drug abuse, and child safety. Dr. Kushal Baidya, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at ANIIMS, delivered an insightful talk, while Ms. Sangeeta Chand, Deputy Director of Education (Science), emphasized the vital roles and responsibilities of Health Ambassadors in addressing student well-being and related challenges in schools.

An interactive session followed the presentations, providing participants the opportunity to raise concerns and seek guidance on issues encountered within their respective schools.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Mandeep Grewal, Founder and President of Guru Ki Rasoi, who expressed gratitude to all participants and facilitators for their active involvement and commitment to student wellness.
