Andaman Islands are bracing for heavy rainfall and rough sea conditions over the next two days. According to weather forecasts, the region is likely to experience significant rainfall, with amounts ranging from 7 to 11 centimetres expected at isolated locations on June 11 and 12.
Authorities have also warned of squally conditions along and off the Andaman and Nicobar coast. Surface winds are predicted to be strong, reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour, contributing to the rough sea conditions.
Due to these adverse conditions, the sea state is expected to be rough to very rough. As a precautionary measure, fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea on June 12 to ensure their safety.
Residents and visitors in the Andaman Islands are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions. For further information or assistance, individuals can contact the State Emergency Operation Centre via their helpline at 1070, or the District Emergency Operation Centre at 1077. In case of emergencies or if assistance is needed at sea, the Coast Guard Search and Rescue (SAR) Agency is available on the toll-free number 1554.
