The authorities have issued a weather advisory warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the coming days.
On August 29, thunderstorms with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) and lightning are likely at one or two places across the Islands.
On August 31, the region is expected to witness heavy rainfall measuring 7–11 cm at isolated locations, along with thunderstorms accompanied by stronger gusty winds (40–50 kmph) and lightning. Similar conditions are also forecast for September 1, with the possibility of thunderstorms, gusty winds (40–50 kmph), and lightning.
The authorities have further cautioned of squally weather over the Andaman Sea and surrounding island areas, with surface wind speeds reaching 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph. Sea conditions are expected to be rough during this period.
Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman Sea and A&N Islands on August 31 and September 1 due to adverse weather conditions.
