Authorities have issued a weather advisory warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and squally conditions over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the coming days.
According to the forecast, heavy rain (7–11 cm) is very likely at one or two places over Andaman Island on September 17 and 18, accompanied by thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph and lightning at isolated locations across the Islands.
Further, from September 19 and 20, similar conditions are expected, with heavy rain over Andaman Island and thunderstorms accompanied by stronger gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and lightning.
Meanwhile, squally weather with surface wind speeds of 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, is likely to prevail over the Andaman Sea and along the Andaman & Nicobar coast. Sea conditions are expected to remain rough.
Authorities have advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman Sea and the A&N coast between September 18 and 19 due to the adverse weather conditions.
