The Andaman & Nicobar Islands are likely to experience heavy rain and severe weather conditions over the next three days.
On Aug. 12, heavy rain measuring 7–11 cm is expected at one or two places across the islands, accompanied by thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching speeds of 50–60 kmph and lightning. Similar conditions, with thunderstorms, gusty winds (50–60 kmph) and lightning, are predicted for Aug. 13. On Aug. 14, thunderstorms with slightly lower wind speeds of 30–40 kmph, along with lightning, are likely in some areas.
In addition, squally weather with surface wind speeds of 35–45 kmph, gusting to 55 kmph, is expected along and off the A&N coast and over the Andaman Sea. Sea conditions are likely to remain rough to very rough during this period.
Fishermen have been strongly advised not to venture into the sea along and off the A&N coast and into the Andaman Sea till Aug. 14 in view of the hazardous weather conditions.
