Heavy Rainfall and Rough Sea Conditions Predicted for Andaman and Nicobar Islands

A warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands over the next few days has been issued. Residents and authorities are urged to take necessary precautions.

According to the forecast, heavy to very heavy rain (7-20 cm) is expected at isolated places in the Andaman Islands on June 24 and 25. Similarly, heavy rain (7-11 cm) is anticipated in certain areas of the Nicobar Islands on the same dates. The Andaman Islands will continue to experience heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) on June 26 and 27.

In addition to the rainfall, squally weather with strong surface winds, reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph, is likely to prevail along and off the coast of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The sea condition is expected to be rough to very rough, posing a significant risk to maritime activities.

Fishermen and small boat operators have been strongly advised to avoid venturing into the sea around the Andaman and Nicobar Islands until June 27 due to the hazardous conditions.
