Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorms Forecast for Some Areas of A&N Islands; Fishermen Advised to Stay Ashore Till June 15

The authorities have issued a weather advisory warning of heavy rainfall and squally weather conditions over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. According to the forecast, heavy rain ranging between 07 to 11 cm is likely to occur at one or two places in the Islands on June 12 and 13.

In addition to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph are also expected to impact isolated areas during this period. The authorities have cautioned residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions against potential weather-related disruptions.

Sea conditions around the region are expected to remain rough, with squally weather and surface wind speeds likely to reach 35-45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph over the Andaman Sea and coastal areas of the Islands. As a safety measure, fishermen have been strongly advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman Sea and Andaman & Nicobar Islands until June 15.

The authorities are closely monitoring the situation. The public is requested to stay updated through official weather bulletins and advisories.
