Hindu Rashtra Shakti (HRS), Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has submitted a detailed proposal to the President of India, the Prime Minister, and senior Union Ministers, seeking urgent intervention to address the acute shortage of Information Technology (IT) professionals in the Union Territory’s administration.

In a memorandum signed by its State President, Mr. Rakeshwar Lall, the organisation highlighted that the absence of dedicated IT personnel across key departments has become the single biggest impediment to the islands’ development, delaying projects, slowing down governance, and creating vulnerabilities in data security.

The proposal recommends the immediate creation of over 100 IT posts—such as IT Managers, Senior IT Analysts, and IT Analysts—across departments including the Directorate of Panchayat, Pay and Accounts Office, Marine Department, ANCOL, JNRM, Law College, ANIIMS, the Directorate of Social Welfare, and the Andaman Guest House.

“Government employees are struggling without technical support, digital projects are delayed, and critical hardware and software remain poorly maintained,” the memorandum states, adding that such inefficiencies are hampering the Prime Minister’s Digital India vision in the Islands.

The HRS has further urged the Centre to establish a centralised Directorate of Information Technology under a Director-level officer, outside the DBRAIT campus, to provide unified policy direction, strategic planning, and technical oversight for all e-governance initiatives. The group also proposed restructuring of the IT cadre to ensure career progression, attract top talent, and boost staff morale.

Calling the move an “investment in productivity and accountability,” Lall said the proposed reforms would pave the way for a digital revolution in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and directly benefit citizens through faster, more transparent service delivery.

The memorandum has been marked to senior officials of the PMO, MHA, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, and the A&N Administration for urgent consideration.
