Raising concern over the rising number of accidents and public safety issues in the municipal areas of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Hindu Rashtra Shakti has submitted a formal request to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Admiral (Retd.) DK Joshi, urging the administration to install CCTV cameras in strategic locations.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the State Youth President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti, Angshuman Roy, highlighted a surge in accidents, particularly in areas around bars, restaurants, and other busy public spots. The organisation believes that installing CCTV cameras will significantly enhance surveillance, improve emergency response, and help reduce both accidents and criminal activities.

The suggested locations for installation include:

– High-traffic intersections

– Bars and restaurants

– Public gathering areas

– Accident-prone zones

– Tourist destinations

– Educational institutions such as schools, colleges, and tuition centres

“The presence of CCTV cameras will not only act as a deterrent but will also ensure accountability and swift action in case of any untoward incident,” Roy noted in his letter.

Copies of the letter have also been sent to the Member of Parliament of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Chief Secretary of the A&N Administration, and media houses for further attention and necessary action.

The move by Hindu Rashtra Shakti reflects growing concerns among citizens about road safety and the need for modern monitoring systems to ensure public well-being.
