In a landmark achievement for the Onge Community (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, nine Onge students from Dugong Creek have successfully passed the Class 10 CBSE Board Examinations in 2025 and have now joined Class 11 at PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School R.K. Pur in Little Andaman. This marks the first time in history that Onge students have advanced to senior secondary education, setting a new precedent for the community.

The Tribal Welfare Department of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration shared the milestone on social media, stating:
“Historic milestone! 9 Onge students from Dugong Creek join Class 11 at PM SHRI GSS R.K. Pur after passing CBSE 10th Board in 2025—first ever for the PVTG community! Dedicated classroom, hostels & support by AAJVS & Education Dept ensure their success.”

The achievement is the result of sustained efforts by the Andaman Adim Janjati Vikas Samiti (AAJVS) and the Department of Education, who have provided crucial academic, logistical, and emotional support to the students.

This success not only highlights the determination and resilience of the Onge students but also reflects the commitment of the Administration to inclusive and equitable education. It is a promising step forward in empowering indigenous communities through education and opportunity.
