The Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at Port Blair today (Feb. 26). The Hon’ble President who arrived here accompanied by the First Lady Smti Savita Kovind and other family members, was received by the Lt Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Commander in Chief, A&N Command, Lt Gen Manoj Pande, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Chetan B. Sanghi, DGP, Shri Satyendra Garg and Senior Officers of A&N Administration.
Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Shri Ram Nath Kovind reviewed a 150 men Tri-Service Guard of Honour by personnel of Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC).
Later in the evening, the Hon’ble President visited the National Memorial Cellular Jail and placed wreath at the Martyrs’ Column. Thereafter, the Hon’ble President visited the Cellular Jail Complex Museum and penned his thoughts in the Visitor’s Book.
The Hon’ble President visited the Jail Complex and witnessed the Light & Sound Show.
In honour of Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Hon’ble President of India Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency & Smti Chitra Joshi, Hon’ble First Lady, A&N Islands hosted a banquet dinner/cultural programme at Raj Niwas on Feb. 26. The programme was also attended by Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Hon’ble MP, A&N Islands, Lt General Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman Nicobar Command, Shri Chetan B. Sanghi, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Satyendra Garg, DGP, A&N Islands & other Senior Officers of A&N Administration and Andaman & Nicobar Command.
