The Headquarters of Andaman and Nicobar Command successfully concluded Phase-II of its Ex-Servicemen Outreach Programme aimed at veterans residing in Great Nicobar Island. The initiative, held from June 29 to July 4, 2024, was inaugurated amidst esteemed dignitaries and officials at the Community Hall, Campbell Bay.
Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, AVSM, VM, Commander-in-Chief of Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), along with Mrs. Latha Saju, inaugurated the main event on July 3, 2024. The ceremony saw the presence of Commodore K Sri Vatsa, Station Commander ECHS, Commandant JS Randhaawaa TM, District Commander of Coast Guard Dist-10, and Commanding Officers from INS Baaz and 172 Inf Bn (TA) Madras. Medical teams from the Integrated Medical Station and PHC were also actively involved.
A total of 120 ex-servicemen and their dependents from Campbell Bay and surrounding areas, including Shastri Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Joginder Nagar, Govind Nagar, and Rajiv Nagar, participated in the event. The Integrated Medical Station organized a medical screening camp, underscoring the commitment of ANC towards the health and welfare of veterans in remote locations.
Colonel KV Cherian, VSM Bar, President of ESM League, and dignitaries such as Mr. Abhishek Gulia, Assistant Commissioner, and Mr. Firoz Alam, DySP, graced the occasion with their presence.
This phase of the outreach programme marks ANC’s dedication to supporting the wellbeing of ex-servicemen and their families across far-flung islands. Phase 1 of the programme, conducted earlier from April 27 to May 1, 2024, catered to ex-servicemen in North and Middle Andaman districts, inaugurated by Commodore T. Sugreev, Commanding Officer of INS Jarawa.
In the upcoming phases (Phase 3 and 4), integrated teams from HQ ANC are slated to extend their outreach efforts to ex-servicemen residing in Little Andaman, Car-Nicobar, Kamorta, and Nancowry.
