Residents of Little Andaman are struggling with irregular and delayed LPG cylinder supplies, with reports emerging of black marketing and exorbitant prices, particularly during the festival season. The shortage has left many households unable to manage their daily cooking needs.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Rajesh Mazumdar, State Vice President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti (HRS), highlighted the issue and urged immediate intervention. According to Mazumdar, authorized distributors have either failed to provide timely refills, or cylinders are being diverted and sold at inflated rates in the local market.

Mazumdar called on the Administration to closely monitor the distribution system, prevent black marketing, and ensure that LPG cylinders reach genuine consumers at government-approved rates. He suggested regular inspections and strict penalties against offenders to curb unlawful practices.

Copies of the letter have also been sent to the General Manager of IOC, the Director of CS and CA, and all print media, with attachments of LPG cylinder delivery records provided for reference.

Residents are hoping for swift action to ensure timely and fair supply of essential cooking fuel across the island.
