Hindu Rashtra Shakti has urged the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to take strict legal action against unauthorized begging activities at the Sunday open market in Junglighat, citing concerns over public nuisance and disruption to market operations.

In a formal representation addressed to the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, the organisation’s State General Secretary (Organisation) and former Chairperson of the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council, N. K. Udhaya Kumar, highlighted the issue as a matter of “serious public concern.”

According to the letter, despite the establishment of a designated and regulated vending space at Junglighat, groups of beggars have been regularly occupying portions of the road and market area during Sunday market hours. This, the organisation claimed, has been causing obstruction to pedestrians and vehicular movement, while also affecting the orderly functioning of the market.

The representation further stated that such activities amount to unauthorized encroachment on public spaces and violate civic norms and municipal regulations. It called upon the authorities to initiate immediate and stringent enforcement measures, including eviction of encroachments, continuous monitoring, and legal action against violators.

Hindu Rashtra Shakti cautioned that failure to address the issue promptly could lead to a deterioration in law and order and undermine the purpose of the designated market space, which was developed for the benefit of vendors and the public.

The organisation has appealed for swift intervention to ensure a safe, clean, and well-regulated market environment at Junglighat.
