In a significant development, the PS Central Crime Station carried out a successful operation leading to the seizure of a large cache of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). The raid, based on credible intelligence, occurred on October 18, 2023, near the Municipal Market in New Pahargaon, Port Blair. The operation was executed by a team of dedicated officers, including Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO PS CCS, and the cooperation of Head Constable Sanjit Madhu, along with Constables N. Thangaraj, Chandran, and K. Rajendran.
The raid resulted in the confiscation of an impressive 188 bottles of IMFL from a suspect identified as D. Sathiyendran, aged 43, and son of Mr. K. Durai Swamy, residing in Prothrapur. Notably, Sathiyendran was found to be in possession of this substantial quantity of IMFL without any valid license or necessary documentation.
A case has been promptly registered under the relevant sections at PS CCS, and an ongoing investigation is underway. D. Sathiyendran has a prior history of involvement in another excise-related case, adding weight to the seriousness of the current charges.
The entire operation was conducted under the watchful eye of Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, the Superintendent of Police (CID). The seizure sends a stern message to those involved in the illegal trade and possession of alcohol, emphasising the government’s commitment to curbing such activities.
Members of the general public are strongly encouraged to come forward with any credible information regarding illegal alcohol sales or possession, as well as any other illicit activities.
