Huge Quantity of IMFL Seized by Special Raid Team in South Andaman

South Andaman Sub Division’s Special Raid Team took decisive action against bootleggers and illegal liquor sales on July 27, 2023, resulting in the arrest of one individual and the confiscation of a significant quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).

Acting on specific information, the Special Raid Team comprising HC/2444 Muthu Kumar, PC/774 A Vellaiswamy, PC/1410 D.Raju, and PC/2692 Rita Kumari, executed a well-coordinated raid at a Pan shop located in Bathubasti. The operation targeted the illegal sale and distribution of liquor in the area.

During the raid, the officers successfully seized a staggering total of 197 bottles of IMFL. The haul included 18 750ml bottles, 48 375ml bottles, and 131 180ml bottles, making it a substantial blow to the illegal liquor trade in the region.

In connection with the seizure, the raid team arrested an individual identified as D. Sathiyendran, 41 years old, and the son of Mr. Duraisamy. Sathiyendran, who worked as a Pan shopkeeper and resided in Prothrapur, was apprehended after the team meticulously followed all codal formalities.

Following the arrest, the authorities registered an excise case against D. Sathiyendran at PS Pahargaon, ensuring that he will be brought to justice for his involvement in the illegal liquor trade.

The raid took place under the supervision of Mr. Sunny Gupta, IPS, SDPO (South Andaman).
