Humfrygunj Police Cracks Double Robbery Case Within 48 Hours; Three Accused Arrested, Stolen Gold Recovered

In a swift and decisive response to crime, the South Andaman District Police has successfully cracked a double robbery case within 48 hours, arresting three accused individuals and recovering stolen gold ornaments.

The case began on 02 June 2025, when Mr. John Peter approached the Humfrygunj Police Station and reported that three individuals—Naman Kumar alias Bittu and Babar Ali Mallick, both residents of Atlanta Point, and Manoj alias Babla, a resident of Nayasahar—had assaulted Mr. Nipen Sardar near White Coral Bar. When Mr. Peter intervened in the altercation, he too was physically attacked. Subsequently, both he and Mr. Sardar were robbed of their gold chains.

Following the complaint, cases were promptly registered, and a dedicated police team was constituted under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Gaurav Banerjee, SHO of Police Station Humfrygunj. The team included ASIs Santh Glasthus and Tarak Nath, along with police constables Raja, Ranjit Kumar Verma, Eshan Mondal, Laxmi Rani Mondal, Nupur Sarkar, Abdul Naseer, Pradip Das, and Pariya Swamy.

Acting swiftly, the police apprehended Naman Kumar and Babar Ali Mallick from the Atlanta Point area in Aberdeen Bazar the same day. The third accused, Manoj, was arrested from Nayasahar. During the operation, two gold chains weighing a total of 27 grams and valued at approximately ₹3 lakh were recovered from the accused.

The operation was conducted under the close supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat, and the overall direction of Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
