ICAR-CIARI and KVKs Observe Vigilance Awareness Week Across Islands

The ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI) and its Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) at North & Middle Andaman, South Andaman, and Nicobar observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, under the theme “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility.” The observance aimed to promote awareness among rural communities about their rights and duties while fostering a culture of integrity and collective responsibility in combating corruption.

At KVK North & Middle Andaman, Dr. V. Damodaran, Senior Scientist and Head, administered the integrity pledge and underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in public life. The event witnessed participation from 35 villagers from nearby areas.

In South Andaman, the programme was held at Gupta Pada Panchayat and was graced by Mr. Durlab Das, Pradhan, and Dr. Y. Ramakrishna, Principal Scientist and Head. The session focused on empowering citizens to act as whistleblowers against corruption and benefitted around 50 farmers and farmwomen.

In Nicobar, the event was observed at the Gram Panchayat level under the chairmanship of Village Head Perka, emphasizing community involvement in ensuring ethical governance.

The series of programmes across the islands were coordinated by Dr. Sharath S. Yeligar under the guidance of Dr. T. Sujatha, Vigilance Officer, and Dr. Jai Sunder, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
