ICAR-CIARI, NABL Holds Awareness Program on Laboratory Accreditation at Sri Vijaya Puram Campus

The ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI), in collaboration with the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), organized an awareness program on NABL accreditation at its Sri Vijaya Puram campus, aiming to promote international quality standards in laboratory practices.

The event brought together stakeholders from academic institutions, regulatory bodies, and industry, providing crucial insights into the accreditation process and its role in ensuring quality assurance and global credibility in scientific research and industrial testing.

In his welcome address, Mr. Srikanth R., Director of the QCI-NABL Regional Office, set the tone for the program. Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director of ICAR-CIARI, delivered the inaugural address, emphasizing the importance of implementing robust quality systems to enhance scientific output and institutional reliability.

The keynote address by Mr. Sreeram Pinnamaraju, Assistant Director at the QCI-NABL Regional Office, offered a detailed overview of the accreditation process, its practical implications, and the value it brings to laboratories seeking recognition at the national and international levels.

Dr. Rafeeque R. Alyethodi, Senior Scientist at ICAR-CIARI, concluded the event with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of participants and organizers.

Around 50 participants from various institutions across the Andaman Islands attended the program. Their active involvement highlighted a growing commitment within the region to elevate laboratory standards and align with global best practices.

The initiative is seen as a significant step toward fostering a culture of quality, compliance, and accountability in scientific and industrial testing across the islands.
