ICAR-CIARI Organizes Farmer-Scientist Interaction and Live Streaming of PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses

The ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI), Sri Vijaya Puram, along with its Regional Station at Minicoy, Lakshadweep, and all Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of South Andaman, North & Middle Andaman, and Nicobar, organized a Farmer-Scientist Interaction and live streaming of the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses on October 11, 2025, at the T.R. Dutta Conference Hall, CIARI.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local farmers and showcased various technological innovations developed by ICAR-CIARI to promote sustainable and productive farming practices across the islands.

Dr. Jai Sunder, Director, ICAR-CIARI, led the programme along with a team of scientists representing diverse fields such as agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. During the interaction, experts shared insights on the latest technologies and scientific advancements tailored to the unique agro-climatic conditions of the islands.

A total of 185 participants attended the event at ICAR-CIARI, including 141 farmers (51 males and 90 females). Additionally, 106 farmers from KVK South Andaman, 155 from KVK North & Middle Andaman, and 150 from KVK Nicobar joined the session virtually.

The live streaming of the Prime Minister’s address and the detailed discussion on the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana helped farmers gain a better understanding of the scheme’s objectives and benefits. Participants expressed confidence in applying the knowledge gained and disseminating it further within their communities.
