The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), North & Middle Andaman, organized an educational exposure visit for students of Government Middle School, Padmanabhapuram, to its campus on March 18, 2025. A total of 45 students, accompanied by six teachers, participated in the visit aimed at introducing young minds to modern agricultural practices and inspiring them to explore opportunities in agriculture and rural development.

The students and their teachers were warmly welcomed by Er. Manoj Kumar, SMS (Agricultural Engineering), who guided them through various activities. The visit began with a tour of the horticulture garden, where the students observed mother blocks of mango, citrus, and other minor fruits. Er. Manoj Kumar also highlighted the importance of farm mechanization and the role of modern agricultural equipment in promoting sustainable farming.

Following this, the students explored the KVK farm and horticulture unit under the guidance of Mr. Rakesh Dawar, SMS (Agronomy). They were introduced to key concepts such as the Nutri-Garden model, vegetable cultivation techniques, vermicomposting, and the Pond-Based Integrated Farming System — essential components of sustainable agriculture that contribute to enhancing farm productivity and income.

The exposure visit provided the students with hands-on knowledge and practical insights into innovative agricultural techniques, sparking their curiosity and encouraging them to consider careers in agriculture and allied fields.

The programme was coordinated by Er. Manoj Kumar and Mr. Rakesh Dawar under the leadership of Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijaya Puram.
