The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), South Andaman, in collaboration with ‘Bageecha’ and ‘Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi,’ successfully conducted a three-day training program on “Nursery Activities of Vegetables and Ornamental Crops” from March 3 to March 5, 2025. The training sessions were held at ICAR-KVK, South Andaman, and Bageecha.
Dr. Y. Ramakrishna, Principal Scientist and Head of KVK, attended the program as the chief guest and commended the participants for their keen interest in nursery activities. In his address, he emphasized the importance of growth media in nurseries and delivered a lecture on the subject.
Training Coordinator Ms. Sushma, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture), provided hands-on demonstrations on media preparation, filling polybags and trays, and seedling preparation. Participants actively engaged in learning techniques for raising vegetable seedlings and propagating ornamental plants through cuttings.
A total of nine trainees, including six women and three men, took part in the training. The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Dr. E. B. Chkaurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
