In a bid to empower students with crucial knowledge on emergency response mechanisms, the ICDS Project (Rural), Diglipur, under the Directorate of Social Welfare, recently organized an awareness programme at PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School, Subashgram.
The session focused on key helpline numbers provided by the Government of India, including Childline – 1098, Police – 100, Fire Brigade – 101, and Ambulance – 102. The initiative aimed to familiarize students with essential services available for emergency support, safety, mental health, and grievance redressal.
Addressing the gathering, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Ms. Indira Devi emphasized the importance of educating children about these services. “Equipping our children with knowledge about these helplines ensures their safety and mental well-being. It’s a step towards creating a more informed and secure environment for our youth,” she said.
The programme concluded with the distribution of awareness brochures by Mukhya Sevika Ms. N. Naseem Bibi. Students also took a pledge to spread the information among their peers and family members, reinforcing the community-based approach to child protection.
The event forms part of a larger nationwide campaign to strengthen child protection mechanisms and ensure timely assistance is accessible to every young citizen.
