The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre, Port Blair, has informed students that they can now pursue two academic programmes simultaneously, in accordance with University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines. This provision enables learners to enrol in one full-time physical mode programme and another through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) or online mode, either from IGNOU or any other university.

Students also have the option to pursue two degrees—Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), Certificate, Diploma, or Post Graduate Diploma—from IGNOU itself. Two simultaneous UG/PG Courses can be pursued by taking admission in different admission cycles of IGNOU.

IGNOU continues to be a flexible and inclusive educational platform with no upper age limit for admission. It offers a wide array of programmes including master’s and bachelor’s degrees, diplomas, postgraduate diplomas, and certificate courses across various disciplines. These programmes are designed to cater to a diverse range of learners—be it youth, elderly individuals, homemakers, working professionals, or those seeking employment.

One of the key advantages of IGNOU’s system is its accessibility. Learners across the islands can pursue their education regardless of their location, making higher education more inclusive and convenient.

Admissions for the July 2025 session are currently underway, with the last date to apply being July 15, 2025. Prospective learners are encouraged to submit their applications at the earliest. For any queries or assistance, applicants may contact IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair via email at rcportblair@ignou.ac.in or call 03192-230111 / 242888.
